Services Offered

Metadata harvesting and aggregation is performed quarterly by UW-Madison. Cost model: collection setup fee $100; annual harvesting fee $50-$150.

Content hosting: Milwaukee Public Library uses CONTENTdm to host content for 57 Content Partners (small and mid-sized public libraries, academic libraries, museums and historical societies). Cost model: collection setup fee $200; annual hosting and harvesting fee $75-$125. Hub staff loads content to the CONTENTdm server or provides training and support for contributors to use CONTENTdm locally.

Digitization project consulting: UW-Milwaukee and Marquette University contribute staff time for training and consulting to support development of new digital projects, on an as-needed basis. Cost model: free.

What type of QA is done, and where is the QA done (at the Hub level vs. contributing institution level): Minimal QA is done at the Hub level on new collections prior to harvest. Contributing institutions are responsible for metadata remediation at the local level, no centralized metadata cleanup is provided. We have adapted the DPLA OAI aggregation tools developed by the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center for contributors to perform QA locally. https://recollectionwisconsin.org/metadata-checker/
