Lead/Key Institutions | Organizationally, GMDA is a collaborative effort from seven core institutions from around the state. High level planning is carried out by a committee of representatives from: Middlebury College; Norwich University; St. Michael’s College; the University of Vermont; the Vermont Department of Libraries; the Vermont Historical Society; the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration. |
Services Offered | Member institutions’ records are harvested and aggregated by the GMDA Technical Lead, who also takes responsibility for final QA and ensuring partner institutions’ metadata meet DPLA requirements. Each GMDA partner is responsible for ensuring their metadata meets the requirements of GMDA’s content and metadata guidelines, which are based in DPLA’s standards and intended to minimize the need for additional processing by GMDA staff. In addition, GMDA’s seven core institutions each provide some degree of support to other potential contributors. For example, local historical societies and public libraries that are not themselves GMDA members may elect to share collections hosted by the University of Vermont, the Vermont Historical Society, etc. Additionally most member institutions actively work with smaller institutions around the state to assist them in the development and maintenance of digital collections. |
